Tenkara

Wow 2 post in one day!
Over the past few weeks I've been looking at Tenkara ( Japanesse flyfishing ) so last week I ordered an Iwana II 12FT. rod and 13FT. of furled line from TenkaraUSA.com. I've only fished this rod a couple of times but it's fun and only a little different from western flyfishing.

Fall Spawn ?

Over the past couple of weeks I've been catching some nice size Bream with bright colors on the 1wt. and 3 wt. rods.

Tenkara

I've stumbled across Japanesse flyfishing called Tenkara on the net, it looks interesting. I think I'll give it a try. More to follow...

More ditch fishing

The boy and I had a chance to bond and fish, witch is one and the same, yesterday afternoon by fishing in a near by creek with light rods, a 1wt and a 3wt, and caught some small bream and almost stepped a water moccasin.

Ditch fishing tonight

Just behind some a local park runs a small wood creek that I have been looking at for a very long time . Tonight or this evening really, I got back into it and found a gem of a stream. Highly shaded, clear water that is about 18 inches deep on average, and wiyh a sandy bottom. It has lotts of little Bream just a bit shorter than my hand that are eager to hit a surface fly or a scudd. By the way I was using a 3wt.

pond pics

My neighbor from across the street has a small pond and I have finally started to fish in it , after only three years of being neighbors. Anyway, most of the fish are small but a few are good size. The wife caught most of the fish including the cat fish, she is "The Fish Whisper".

Jitterbee action

For the most part I've always been a dry fly and popper man, one has to use what works for you. This year I decided to learn to fish subsurface, nymyhs, streamers, and such under a strick indicator (thingamabobber). So I tied up some orange/black and red/black jitterbees and put a strick indicator on and got to work. Talk about a killer combo. I've hooked it all up to the 5wt. rod, a WW Grigg ( my first fly rod ). Hope to have pics soon.

More Bream

This little Bream is almost in spawning colors. He was caught on a size 12 black foam spider using a 3wt. TFO rod around some small structure. It is the same fish in both pics, mostly to show scale and playing around with the camera.

Warm water 2011

Yesterday was the first day I had to fish any of the local lakes around here. I was out for about 30min. just before dusk and caught 3 medium size Bream on the 3wt. using a size 14 parachute adams. I even had two young kids ( about 10yrs old ) commenting on my technique and the fish :) I like to think this is a good start to the year and plan to be out there as mush as possible.
