pond pics

My neighbor from across the street has a small pond and I have finally started to fish in it , after only three years of being neighbors. Anyway, most of the fish are small but a few are good size. The wife caught most of the fish including the cat fish, she is "The Fish Whisper".

Jitterbee action

For the most part I've always been a dry fly and popper man, one has to use what works for you. This year I decided to learn to fish subsurface, nymyhs, streamers, and such under a strick indicator (thingamabobber). So I tied up some orange/black and red/black jitterbees and put a strick indicator on and got to work. Talk about a killer combo. I've hooked it all up to the 5wt. rod, a WW Grigg ( my first fly rod ). Hope to have pics soon.

More Bream

This little Bream is almost in spawning colors. He was caught on a size 12 black foam spider using a 3wt. TFO rod around some small structure. It is the same fish in both pics, mostly to show scale and playing around with the camera.

Warm water 2011

Yesterday was the first day I had to fish any of the local lakes around here. I was out for about 30min. just before dusk and caught 3 medium size Bream on the 3wt. using a size 14 parachute adams. I even had two young kids ( about 10yrs old ) commenting on my technique and the fish :) I like to think this is a good start to the year and plan to be out there as mush as possible.

Early morning fishing

I woke up early this morning and went to a lake at a local public park to kill some time before taking the boy to school. I was using a 7wt. TFO rod and a little black popper. The crappie is 6"-8" long, I'm not big on crappie fishing, and the bass is about a foot or so long. Not to bad for 45 min. of playing around.
